The interlock industries

Insurance Companies

The automobile insurance industry has an interest in this fight as well. Similar to the car companies, auto insurance companies are some of MADD’s biggest donors.[1]

The Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS)—which is funded by auto insurance companies—is playing an instrumental role in the universal interlock campaign. Despite the fact that the legal limit is 0.08, the IIHS studied interlocks set at 0.08, 0.05, and 0.0.[2]

Their research and interest reveals anti-alcohol activists’ true goal of setting interlocks at levels far below the legal limit.
